Banasura Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam is one of the must see visit place in Wayanad, It is the largest earth dam in India and the second largest of its kind in Asia. The dam is made up of massive stacks of stones and boulders. There is only one earth dam in Kerala. The dam got the name from Banasura, the son of King Mahabali, whi is a famous ruler of Kerala. Banasura hill is the third largest peak in the Western Ghats. Banasura Sagar Dam is made up of massive stacks of stones and boulders.

Wildlife Sanctuary

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala and contains of rare and endangered species of both flora and fauna. The sanctuary is parted into two, known as Upper Wayanad and Lower Wayanad WLS. Lower Wayanad WLS is known as Muthanga Wildlife Range. The Reserve is home to a small population of tigers, Elephants, Jungle Cats, Panthers, Civet Cats, Monkeys, Wild dogs, Deers, Spotted Bears, Bison, Gaurs, Cheetah, Wild Bears, Peacock, Owls, Jungle fowls, Woodpeckers, Babblers, Cuckoos.

Edakkal Caves

Located at about 1200 ft above the sea level, the Edakkal Caves are among the oldest human settlements ever discovered. Inside the caves are pictorial drawings and engravings that indicate the presence of ancient human settlements in the region. Despite their name, the Edakkal Caves are not actually caves. Many legends are there behind the formation of Edakkal caves. According to one, these caves are said to be formed with the arrows fired by Lava and Kusha, the sons of Lord Sri Rama.

Chembra Peak

Chembra is the highest peak in Wayanad district and lives up to its billing of being a picturesque location. It has managed to maintain its pristine nature over the years. Situated 2,100 m above sea level, this peak offers a breath-taking view of rare flora and fauna. One can come across many exotic species in these parts. Trekking here is a moderately difficult task. There is a heart-shaped lake on the way to the top of the peak, which is believed to have never dried up, is a major tourist attraction here.

Pookat Lake

Pookode Lake in Wayanad is a freshwater lake near Kalpetta resembling the map of India. This breathtaking lake captivates every tourist who comes to Wayanad. It is the highest altitude freshwater lake in Kerala, and with an area of 5 hectares, it is the smallest too. The lake has an abundance of blue lotus and freshwater fishes. Boating facilities, children's park, handicrafts and spices emporium, and freshwater aquarium are among the tourist attractions here. The lake premises also offer a fish spa which is quite famous here.

Meenmutty Falls

Meenmutty Falls is a three-tiered waterfall with a height of 300 metres. Meenmutty is a combination of Malayalam words Meen (fish) and Mutty (blocked). Meenmutty waterfalls are dangerous during rainy seasons. The peak on top of third tier offers breathtaking views of Banasura Sagar Dam and surrounding valleys. Meenmutty Falls situated amidst serene location offers wonderful experience to the visitors. This is a must visit place for everyone visiting Banasura Sagar Dam.

Lakkidi View Point

Situated at the height of approx. 700 meters above the sea level, the View Point is one of the loftiest points in the Wayanad, Kerala. This gorgeous view point comes amongst one of the wettest and greenest spots in India, which is full of unmatched scenic panoramas all over it that bestow it the exceptional glance. This beautiful hill town has a number of scenic locations and enchanting viewpoints. Lakkidi Viewpoint is a popular viewpoint which offers dazzling views of the surrounding cliffs and valleys.
